What made the list
Somewhere you would actually want to go — a museum, a monument, a great stage, a bridge or a line through the middle — that is shut, half shut, wrapped in scaffolding, or has its closing date already in the diary.
Where the dates come from
Straight from whoever is holding the keys: the museum, the opera house, BVG, Deutsche Bahn, the Senate. Nothing here is a guess. Where nobody will name a date, we say so rather than make one up.
Take every date with salt
Berlin's reopening dates have a habit of wandering. The Bauhaus-Archiv has moved more times than we can count since 2018. The Märkisches Museum slid from 2025 to 2028. The Komische Oper simply downed tools. Read every year here as the best case.
