The 1967 building at the edge of the Grunewald holds the largest collection of the Brücke group anywhere. A €20m listed-building renovation and extension will add exhibition space, store, research and education rooms. In September 2026 the jury gave first prize to Barkow Leibinger; the Senate now negotiates with all three prize-winners before awarding the job, and overruns are already expected. No construction dates or closure period have been set.
