Scaffolding went up around the 80-metre tower in June 2023 for the roof structure, roof covering, concrete repairs to the mansard and structural work. The tower is now done; the southern roof is due to finish in the last quarter of 2027, with the scaffolding gone by the end of 2027 or early 2028. The district concedes the job is over time and over budget. The €20m from the Senate covers the town hall and a new office building together.
