The bridge carrying Schönhauser Allee over the Ringbahn is to be demolished and rebuilt in two halves, under the U2 viaduct, which gets new foundations as part of the job. The Senate gives 2027 to 2032, with preparatory work on the utility lines from the end of 2026. In October 2026 BVG spoke of 2027 for the first work, a new support for the viaduct. For the whole build the M1 tram ends south of the bridge, with replacement buses north to Vinetastraße. The U2 and the S-Bahn ring will both have temporary closures during the main phases, with the U2 to Pankow cut twice in 2027. Cars, bikes and pedestrians share whichever half of the bridge is standing. The work is paid for from the federal infrastructure fund.
