Closed on 9 July 2023 for a rebuild into an astronomy education centre — new star projector, fulldome, LED, a new projection dome and "Kosmos Labs" teaching rooms. Seating drops to about 240 to make room for wheelchairs. Due back in 2028. The Wilhelm-Foerster observatory next door stays open.
