Scharoun's 1963 hall, and the Kammermusiksaal with it, is due to shut from 2032 — shortly after the orchestra's 150th anniversary that May — for around eight years. A feasibility study puts the whole exercise — renovation plus moving the orchestra out — at €1.15bn, of which the temporary hall alone is €353m. The orchestra prefers two halls in the Tempelhof hangars; the ICC has also been floated. Nothing is decided, and the orchestra wants a decision from the new Senate within six months.
