The 1980s Dickhäuterhaus — the Tierpark's most popular building — has been stripped back and rebuilt since summer 2020 into what the zoo calls Europe's largest and most modern elephant house, 16,300 square metres of savannah shared with zebras, giraffes and antelope. Pori and her family moved back on 9 and 10 June 2026 and have been on show outside since 27 June; the house itself is due to open in early 2027.
