The last palace the Hohenzollerns built, and the house where Truman, Stalin, Churchill and Attlee redrew Europe in 1945. Closed to visitors since 1 November 2024 while the empty hotel wing — about three quarters of the building — is rebuilt for 38 rooms, a public restaurant and the first lift in the east wing. The museum entrance moves to the western portal and becomes step-free. The published plan was a reopening in summer or autumn 2027; by April 2025 the SPSG had pushed the works to December 2028, and in April 2026 it put the reopening of palace and hotel in 2029. The grounds in the Neuer Garten stay open, so you can still see it from outside.
Instead, go to: The Neuer Garten around the palace, which stays open, so you can still see the building from outside. Berlin Experiences on what you can see at Cecilienhof while the palace is closed.
