Friedrich Wilhelm IV's homesick Italian fantasy — twin towers, arcades, terraces and the Raphael Hall with its 49 copies — has been closed to visitors since restoration resumed in summer 2023. Roofs and facades of the whole building are being redone and the stored roof sculpture put back on the balustrades. The eastern plant hall and north-east pavilion run to the end of 2027; the courtyard and western pavilions from mid-2026 to the end of 2028; the western plant hall and the north side from late 2027 to mid-2029.
