The Stülerbau closed in September 2022 for a full overhaul — roof, facade, basement sealing, modern museum technology, photovoltaics. Reopening was announced for 2025, then 2026, and no date has been set. In October 2026 the building was still largely under scaffolding, and the collection, which has toured Japan, China, Europe, Australia and the US, goes on show in Miami until 28 February 2027.
