The walk-on rocking bowl in front of the Humboldt Forum was first due for completion in 2013. In 2024 both the general contractor and its steel builder went insolvent, leaving the finished 150-tonne shell at the works. In September 2026 the federal government said no completion date can be set until a court confirms an insolvency plan. About €10.8m had been paid out since building began in 2020, and an audit was ordered. The site in front of the Schlossfreiheit has been largely still.
