Since 2 October 2026 the fast line between Berlin-Spandau and Fallersleben has been shut for a corridor renovation running to December 2027. The old Lehrter Stammbahn alongside was meant to carry single-track diversions from December, but its electrification has slipped to December 2027, so for most of the works neither line carries trains. Through the whole 2027 timetable only three ICEs every two hours run each way, via Potsdam, Magdeburg and Braunschweig, about 80 minutes slower. Until 12 December regional trains between Stendal, Rathenow and Spandau are replaced by buses; the regional plan for 2027 has not been published.
