The former emergency reception camp at Marienfelde is where people fleeing East Germany arrived in West Berlin. Its museum, run by the Berlin Wall Foundation, closes from Monday 21 December 2026 while the historic building is fully renovated and rebuilt as a new place of learning and history. It is also shut on 17 November 2026 for preparatory work. The foundation plans to reopen it in 2029.
Instead, go to: The Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Straße, run by the same foundation.
